Daniela beach

This Northern beach is halfway inside the bay between the island and mainland, resulting in very calm waters usually. More popular among locals than among tourists, this beach is famous for sometimes having crystal clear water. It is shallow and excellent for swimming. It doesn't have much in the way of infrastructure, such as restaurants, since there is no beach town to speak of here, but during summer season vendors mount their stalls along the beach, selling beer, drinks, juices and simple beach food.

Daniela is a huge beach, so you will always find space here. Many would argue that it is the most beautiful beach on the island. During Mullet fishing season from May to July, this beach will be used by fishermen to lay nets and haul huge quantities of this fish. It is a spectacle to watch.

Following the beach to the South, you'll reach a cape where it turns sharply inwards. Be aware of dangerous currents in this part of the beach, around the cape. Inside the cape, the waters are better suited for fishing than for swimming. haul huge quantities of this fish. It is a spectacle to watch.

Trail to Praia do Forte (Fort beach)

From Northern Daniela beach there is a short trail to Praia do Forte (Fort beach). You either walk up and down a steep hill, or along the coast. If you walk along the coast you need to mind the tides. The trail is not very exciting, but can be a good place to find your own secluded spot if beaches are crowded.
